Commissioner of Police Edvin Martin was enlisted in the Royal Grenada Police Force on July 1st 1986.
 
He was appointed Commissioner of Police (Acting) July 2nd 2018 and was later confirmed Commissioner December 2020. 
 
He holds a Bachelor’s of Science Degree with honours in Business Administration and a Master’s of Science in Criminology and Criminal Justice. 
 
He attained a number of certificates and diplomas in policing and Criminal Justice during his career. 
 
A graduate of the Federal Bureau of Investigation Academy (FBI) and the Centre for Hemispheric Defence Studies.
 
He also served as an instructor with the Regional Security System for a number of years.

A 60-year-old farmer is facing a charge of stealing coconuts, while 3 teenagers are facing 3 charges for stealing cash from the Marketing and National Importing Board (MNIB).
 
Fabian John of River Sallee St Patrick, was arrested and charged for the offence of Predial Larceny by stealing 75 coconuts and 4 bunches of bananas, while 3 male students from the communities of Darbeau and Mt Rush in St George, were recently charged with stealing and damaging the property of the Marketing and National Importing Board after police conducted an investigation.
 
The juveniles who range between the ages of 13 and 15 engaged in the criminal activity on 30 April 2019. They are presently on bail.
 
They are facing summary charges of housebreaking by unlawfully breaking and entering Marketing and National Importing Board and for stealing articles valued at EC$1,511 the property of Marketing and National Importing Board. They were also charged for the offence of Damage to Property one aluminium door and one wrought iron gate, value to be ascertained.
 
Also facing recent charges was Cheston Andrew 30-year-old Labourer residing at Cornets Walk, Gouyave, St John. He was charged for the offence of Burglary by unlawfully breaking and entering the dwelling-house of Caleen Andrew Hosten and for the offence of Indecent Assault by indecently assaulting a 12-year-old female.

With kite flying being one of our greatest traditions around this time of the year, the Royal Grenada Police Force (RGPF) appeals to kite flyers to be considerate and conscious about safe practices.
 
Persons are reminded that the unsafe practices in kite flying poses a danger to human life, health and safety of the general public.
 
Persons engaged in the practice of leaving droning kites to fly at nights are reminded that it is against the law to do so. A special appeal is made to persons to refrain from doing so.
 
Persons are encouraged to fly kites in open areas and away from electricity poles, overhead power lines and other obstacles, and, to refrain from leaving kites unattended while flying.
 
Flying kites near to the airports is prohibited by law.
 
Persons are reminded that the no-fly areas include, but are not limited to, Calliste, Frequente, Fort Jeudy, St Paul’s, Mt Parnassus and Mt Moritz and the vicinity of Lauriston Airport in Carriacou.

The Police Hardball Cricket Team will be participating in the 2019 edition of the Regional Police T20 Cricket Tournament to be held in St. Lucia from the 12 - 22 April. The participating countries are: Grenada, Trinidad & Tobago, Barbados, St. Vincent & the Grenadines, Antigua & Barbuda, Dominica and British Virgin Islands. St. Lucia is the 2018 Champion.
