How Do I Get Permission to Hold a Public Meeting?

To hold meetings in a public place a letter must first be written to the commissioner of Police three (3) working days in advance stating;

  • The time of the event
  • The date of the event
  • Place where the event will be held
  • What type of event is being held?
  • Who is hosting the event?

In case where a Public Address system will be used persons using the system must be clearly stated in the application letter.

Where there will be a street procession a request must be made for a police outrider or an escort.  It is the responsibility of the group leader to permit the free flow of vehicular traffic and orderly behaviour of the procession.

Permission for public meetings such as block-o which is to be held along a public roadside and anywhere else that would likely cause obstruction to the free flow of traffic will not be granted.
